Camel Caravan

Although United Kingdom or Great Britain is a sovereign nation, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are also referred to as countries. The British Prime Minister's website has used the phrase “countries within a country" to describe the United Kingdom. Britain is full of contrasts; whichever direction you travel, you will find a wide variety of landscapes and diverse cultures to explore.

You may already have several ideas about typical British food, but the most popular dish in England at the moment is… Curry or Indian food! British food has, by tradition, been based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish and generally served with potatoes. The most widespread and distinctive foods eaten in Britain include the fish and chips, pies like the Cornish pasty, trifle and roasts dinners.

London has been described as a world cultural capital. It has the most international visitors in comparison to any other city in the world.

Being a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence.

London has a diverse range of peoples, cultures, cuisines and religions, and more than 300 languages are spoken within its boundaries.

Best time to visit

If the weather is not an issue, then there is no good or bad time to visit London as attractions are mostly open all year round.

July and August are the height of summer! These would also be the most expensive months and have the biggest crowds mainly because of the school holidays and the 'good' weather.

New Year and Easter are also busy periods and expensive.

In the winter it is dark by early evening, that is 16.00.

In the Height of summer it is light until 22.00.

UK is a sovereign island nation located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea.
